This 2 Days Birding Entebbe: takes you birding to Mabamba swamp in Entebbe Uganda. The Mabamba bay is identified as an important birding area and also renowned for hosting the rare shoebill as well as famously blessed with a variety of bird species. This swamp has grown into one of the most interesting and spectacular tourist sites for birding and apart from Murchison falls national park, Mabamba is the only place rated as the best in Africa or in the world where the elusive shoebill can easily be spotted in its natural state.

Day 1: Birding in Entebbe’s UWEC- Entebbe Botanical Gardens
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be picked by our representative and later start on your 2 Days birding safari in Entebbe. Your first stop over will be at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, home to orphaned & captive animals and with over 170 species of birds including the 7 species of weavers, such as the rare Northern masked weaver and orange weaver, kingfishers, sunbirds etc. There after, you will have lunch and then proceed to Entebbe Botanical Gardens with over 150 bird species, here you will look out for different bird species like the Great Blue and Ross’s Turacos, Red Chested, Klaas’s and Diederik Cuckoo, Great Reed Warbler, Malachite, Giant, Woodland and Pygmy Kingfishers, Black Bishop, Grey Woodpecker, Red chested sunbirds, Superb starlings etc. Later in the evening return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Birding in Mabamba Swamp
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Mabamba swamp, 50kms west of Kampala. Here expect to look out for many different birds on your way to the swamp like the papyrus Gonolek, White Shouldered Tit, Western Banded snake Eagle, White Winged Warbler, White Spotted Fluf tail etc. This Swamp is one of the best places to spot the exceptional Shoebill Stork but also many other species can be found here, like the Allen’s and Purple Gallinule, Grey herons, Jacanas, Ruffaus bellied Heron, Squaco, Purple and Goliath Heron, the Globally threatened Pallid Harrier and Blue Swallow a migrant specie, a Variety of egrets, ducks etc. The best way to enjoy the rich bird life is by canoe and you might even have the luck to encounter the elusive sitatunga Antelope, adapted to swampy habitants. Later in the evening drive back to the Hotel/Lodge or catch up with your flight.
