6 Days Uganda & Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari: takes you to two countries with interesting activities to enjoy. You will visit popular national parks such as Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for gorillas or golden monkey tracking; this park was the very first national park to be established in Africa and famous for the mountain gorillas, becoming a base for an American naturalist Dian Fossey to carry out her research on the gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is among the most visited national parks in the country and is popularly known as home of mountain gorillas which are among the endangered species in the world today. Besides mountain gorillas, there is a great diversity of other wildlife including small wild animals and primates.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport

As soon as you arrive at Kigali International Airport, you will be received by one of our drivers/guide who will then transfer you to the city of Kigali for your lunch and after you can opt for a city tour or just relax in your lodge.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes national park

After an early morning breakfast, you will be driven to the national park headquarters for briefing. Thereafter, you will begin trekking gorillas into the Volcanoes forest where you will find them and be amazed by the size of the Silverback, their communication skills as well as behavior. During the one hour you will spend with these gorillas, you will observe and learn a lot about them before returning to dine and then sleep.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking-Cultural encounter

After breakfast, you will assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing in the morning together with your trekking gears and drinking water and later ascend in the forest to track the golden monkeys with the guide of an armed ranger. During this activity, you get to find out the interesting facts about these golden monkeys making your safari tour interesting. Head back to the lodge for an overnight stay. In the evening you will enjoy the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to have a taste of the history and culture of Rwanda. Some of the members of this cultural village are former poachers who depended on the forest for survival. You will be entertained by their folk songs and dances so feel free to engage in some of the activities.

Day 4: Transfer to Uganda

After an early breakfast you will check out of the lodge and start on your journey to Uganda heading direct to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi-Batwa cultural encounter

Following an early morning breakfast, you will head to the headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers before going for this adventurous activity. Later you will hit the forest for  gorilla trekking where you will given 1 hour in their presence observing them go about their daily activities. After you will head back to the headquarters for a gorilla trekking certificate award. You will later head back to your lodge, freshen up and have lunch. In the evening you will go for a cultural encounter by the batwa people, listening to their stories, enjoying their fork songs and dances. You will retire off for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Return back to Kampala

Having you morning breakfast, you will start off your journey to  Kampala, marking the end of the 6-days Uganda-Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, arriving late in the evening.

SAFARI TRANSPORT

Standard 4X4 Safari Vehicles

Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4×4 Safari vehicles. Each Safari vehicle comes with a professionally trained driver/guide with fuel for the whole safari. We also have very comfortable super customs which can carry up to 6 people with their luggage, we also have small vehicles like Alphads, Harrier and much more that can carry 4-5 people.

PERMITS

In Rwanda and Uganda Gorilla trekking is done throughout the year and a Gorilla permit goes for $700 per person while in Rwanda it goes for $1500 per person and all these can be payable through the through our Company.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SAFARI

  • Gorilla trekking permits.
  • Proof of Yellow fever vaccination.
  • Good physical, fit health and mental condition.
  • Uganda Visa which can be got on arrival at the Airport.
  • Travelers must be at least 15 years old on the day of the trekking.
  • Travel & Health insurance arranged from your home Country.
  • Hiking shoes.
