This 7 Days birding & Wildlife safari: offers an exceptional nature and bird watching experience through Uganda’s best spots; Kibale National Park with a variety of birds, Semuliki and Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for Acacia Associated Birds from the shores of Lake George and Edward, through Wetlands and Forests.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Kibale National park

Leave early morning for Kibale forest National Park Uganda’s tropical rain forest and one of the most rewarding areas to explore. The park boast over 372 bird species of which 60 percent are recorded Uganda’s forest Birds. You will check in the lodge and after go for lunch. Afternoon birding, Kibale forest birds include; Grey winged robin, Blue shouldered robin chat, Yellow spotted barbet, Black billed turaco, White-napped pigeon, Green breasted pitta, Red chested fluff tail, African pitta, Joyful green bull, Grey throated fly catcher, Nathan’s Francolin, Tinny sunbird, White collard olive back among  others. The forest is also home to 13 primate species. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kibale forest birding and chimpanzee Tracking

After having your early morning breakfast, you will go for an early morning bird watching so as to look out for different bird species like the white tailed anti- thrushes, Purple-headed glossy starling, Masked Apalis, Green breasted pitta, white Napped Pigeon, Toro olive-green bull, Black billed turaco, Buff- spotted woodpecker and Green combec and many others. After, go back to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for  chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Do not forget to carry your Binoculars as the chimps tend to foliage in the tree canopies. The chimpanzee tracking may yield sightings of other primates like the colobus monkeys, Baboons, Red tailed and velvet monkeys among others. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 3: Kibale transfer to semuliki National Park

After early morning breakfast you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Semuliki National park for more adventure birding. Upon arrival, you will check into Ntoroko lodge and later go for birding the whole day. Semuliki is known for different bird species like the Congo serpent eagle, black throated coucal, Grey throated rail, Long tailed hawk, spot breasted ibis, Yellow throated nicater, Northern bearded scrub robin, Red chested owlet, Western bronze and very many others. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 4: Semuliki National Park

After an early morning breakfast you will go for birding for the whole day in the forest. Kirumira trails have become the most popular trail because of its richness in diversity of bird species. You will have packed lunch due to the whole day activity. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 5: Depart Semuliki transfer to Queen Elizabeth

After breakfast check out of Ntoroko lodge, drive southwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the second largest park in Uganda. It has an excellent variety of birds which can be viewed and these include; Pelicans, Skimmers, kingfishers, Thick-knees, storks, Martins, Swallows, Weavers, canaries, kites and many grassland specialties. Dinner and Overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 6: Savanna and water Birds

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for game drive in the open savannah, an ideal opportunity to spot the savannah birds. Return for lunch at your lodge accommodation unit. In the afternoon, launch cruise on Kazinga channel, connecting Lake George and Edward, best known in the region for its diversity of bird species which include; African skimmers, Green backed Heron, African spoonbill, African crake, Water thick-knee, three baned plover, green, wood and common sandpiper, grey headed gull, lesser swamp-warbler and Yellow- billed Oxpecker. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 7: Return to Kampala

After breakfast, check out of your rooms and head back to Kampala for your scheduled flight back home.
